How do you integrate technology in your classroom?

  1. Hello Gris!!!

  2. I use technology in the classroom on a daily basis. It’s hard to believe how I was able to teach without it before. I use it for student enrichment, for instruction, and for my own enrichment. My students also research the many different topics or subjects we are discussing in class. With the use of technology, I also elaborate the discussions or lessons with real life pictures (animals, objects, places etc.)

  3. The way I integrate technology in my classroom is mostly through our own Gonzalez Elem. Web page. My students get to enjoy on-line educational web sights such as Fun Brain, Star Chart, and other web sights that were made available by our own school.
I haven’t had the pleasure of fully using the smart board yet, only because it’s not fully connected, but I am looking forward to it. I do however use the little Elmo often. It very helpful for whole group instruction. In my classroom I continue to view educational videos on the T.V., and I still find the cassette player very useful in a center. Students like to listen to stories and follow along.

  4. I integrate technology in all my subjects that I teach in my classroom. I have 3 Dell computers for all my students. The computers are used for the Acceleated Reader Program. The Accelerated Reader (AR) is a technology based literacy program which consists of a lists of level reader books. The students are awarded points when they successfully complete the reading tests. The reading tests consists of 5-10 questions and the students are awarded a point if they successfully answer all the questions correctly. The students enjoy this program because they are able to take control of how many tests they take per week, are able to monitor their points and are rewarded for their hard work. Also, the computers are used for research. In Science, I assign an animal for each student to reserch. I give them a list of information that needs to be research about the animal, such as Habitat, Diet, Characterists, Reproduction, Is it Endangered and so on… Also, for Social Studies, I assign a state for each student to research. While children are engage in these acitivites, they are learning keyboarding and how to navigate through the internet.
I also have a document camera(ELMO) to display documents and objects. When I am standing in front of the class not all the students are able to see the picutres or work that I am displaying on the board which causes some students to not pay attention and loose interest in the subject. With the Elmo all the students are able to see the work or picutres displayed because it enlarges the view so all students can have a better view and I am able to gain their attention and keep them interested in the subject. If I have a single copy of an interersting picutre, book, flyer or announcement and I want the students to see it all at the same time instead of showing the item to one student at a time all I have to do is place it under the ELMO and immediately the item is seen by the whole class. This saves time and gives me more time to teach. I used the ELMO for all the subjects that I teach, such as, Reading, Grammar, Spelling, Math, Science, Social Studies and Homework.
For Reading, I am able to display the reading book so all the students can follow where I’m reading and they can see all the pictures, For Math, I am able to model problems with manipulatives and work out problems step by step so all students can visualize the process. For spelling, I am able to show list of words which they can copy on their journals which saves me alot of time. Instead of writing or typing lists all I have to do is show them a copy and immediately the work is visualize and transfer into the students journal. For Science I used the Elmo for expeirments, flash cards, science flyers about interesting facts about science. ELMO brings the work closer to their view so they are able to see the process. For Grammar, I able to work on grammar sheets with the students and guide them through each concept.
Technology, has helped me saved time and materials as I don’t have to spend time making copies or transparencies. With technology I am able to spend more time teaching the curriculum for second grade and the students are engaged in learning. Also, I am teaching them computer skills so they are able to become independent succesful users and are able to use this skills next year.

  5. Technology is expanding everyday. It is important to keep our students updated with technology. I integrate technology almost in every subject in my classroom. The students are using the computers on a daily basis during reading. All of them have the opportunity to use the computer due to the rotation of stations. I also use the Smart Board during math lessons. They also participate by going up to the Smart Board and computing problems. I also introduce some lessons viewed on a document camera. The students are being exposed to cameras versus over head projectors. I also have them see videos through United Streaming. My students are being exposed to the newest technology out there

  6. Ms. Griselda Garcia:

I integrate technology in my classroom by using the computer to show videos on topics for science, math, social studies, grammar, health, writing, etc., from United Streaming and BrainPop Jr. By connecting the computer to the Dell overhead projector, the students get to see the videos on a big screen. Students also get to see powerpoints for math and science from the cscope website. I have an elmo to show students books, pictures, writings, etc. so they can follow along more easily. When I need to write and erase quickly during my lessons, I prefer to use the old fashioned overhead projector with transperencies. During reading I play a CD of the story on the radio so the students can track the story for fluency. There is a listening center that has a cassette player with four earphones where students can listen to stories on their own. Students also use the computer to take AR tests, use the Starfall website, and other educational websites on our school links. Educational movies from the library are shown on the class television. During storytime, I play a CD of the story on the radio. At the beginning of the year, the radio was used for playing the cassette that has the morning songs for calendar time.

  7. I integrate technology in my classroom by using my laptap, document camera and projector on a daily basis for various activities. My document camera makes a great part of my daily teaching possible. It allows me to model activities for students with ease. It gives students a realistic image of anything I decide to use for my lessons. I also use my laptop to show students themed videos on whatever lesson we are learning. Using United Streaming is of great help to expand lessons and to give students better knowledge of what they are learning. Students are also allowed to use this equipment to assist in their learning. They are also allowed to use the classroom computers to AR test and research information for any particular assignment.

  8. I integrate technology into my physical education in my classroom through slide show, CATCH website (catchtexas.org) on the projector, Skills videos, aerobic videos, and Fitness Gram. I don’t do it so often by I do use technology even if you don’t believe it. Like most teachers think so. Some of the slide show are activities related to CATCH so I can motivate student to participate.
