Technology and Drop-Outs

Do you think that students will be motivated to stay in school if they are exposed to technology at a very young age?

  1. I’m not sure of the long term effects but I can see it as a motivator for those that enjoy using technology. I also think that they will be better prepared for the future—-heading towards technology being a necessity.

  2. I really don’t believe that technology at a young age will have any positive impact on whether children graduate or not. We have to remember that not all children use technology for age-appropriate materials. Actually, I believe that some children are getting many negative ideas and habits due to the lack of supervision from their parents when they use technology whether it be the internet, using ipods, or any of the advanced video games that are sold. I do believe though that children need to be exposed to the latest technology so they can compete in this world of new technology. This technology of course needs to be introduced to them in school.

  3. As an educator I do think that exposing learners to technology at an early age they will be motivated to continue their education. Technology is growing more and more each day, eventually technology will take over many things we use as instructional tools. Students need to be exposed to it now so they can familiarize themselves and grow with it. I don’t think technology is the reason some students finish school or not, but exposing them when they are in school does motivate.
